Adecco plans its move for spring

Adecco Group NA confirmed Tuesday that it will vacate the Modis tower in downtown Jacksonville next year and move to the Southside. Modis is a subsidiary of Adecco, so the name will come off the 35- story building after the move.

Adecco, which acquired Jacksonville-based MPS Group Inc. in January, signed a lease with Flagler, a commercial real estate company, for 78,292 square feet of space in the Deerwood South business park at the intersection of Southside Boulevard and Butler Boulevard.

Adecco will move its Jacksonville corporate staff to the building at 10151 Deerwood Park Blvd. in spring 2011.

MPS had about 375 employees on 5 1/2 floors of the downtown Modis building who worked in the corporate headquarters and for branches of the company’s professional staffing subsidiaries.

But when Switzerland-based Adecco acquired MPS, Adecco NA chief executive Tig Gilliam said the company was “leaning” toward moving its Jacksonville employees to less costly space when its lease in the Modis building expires in March 2011.

Besides being cheaper than downtown space, “what this particular transaction allows them is a more efficient layout of their space,” said Keith Tickell, executive vice president of development for Flagler.
